What is MoCA and why do I want it?

MoCA® allows you to send broadband/Internet traffic over the coaxial cables in your home. It can be your WiFi network’s best friend, because, like a superhero, MoCA is a technology that boosts your WiFi with a few hero moves. MoCA can help eliminate WiFi deadzones, protect online games from lag and simultaneous let all your wireless devices stream 4K sports, movies and more.

How can MoCA Improve my WiFi?

There are many situations when the WiFi coming from your wireless router isn’t going to cut it. The distance from your router to all your wireless devices, concrete and thick walls as well as the number of wireless devices using WiFi can all limit the speed and quality of your home’s WiFi.

This is when MoCA® enters as WiFi’s superhero best friend. While MoCA isn’t related to that coffee drink, it does caffein-ate your WiFi with a mega dose of WiFi boosting power.

In fact, you probably HAVE MoCA in your home right now. There are more than 274 million devices with MoCA already in use. Since 2005 MoCA has been paid-TV providers’ video and internet superhero. Do you have TV and/or internet services from Comcast, Cox Communications, Verizon, TDS, Frontier, Suddenlink (Altice), Google Fiber, Rogers, Cogeco, Videotron, Bell Atlantic, Telus and Shaw of Canada to name a few? If so, you may have MoCA coursing through your existing TV coax cables.

How Does MoCA Work?

TV coax cables and outlets are the wires connecting TVs to set-top boxes and paid TV services. Most homes have a least two or more TV coax outlets. What if those same TV coax outlets delivered 900 Mbps or better of reliable speed to your wireless devices and every corner of your home? No new wires to install or complicated directions. It’s a WiFi boost everywhere you want it. That’s what MoCA does for you and your home WiFi.

Tests prove MoCA delivers WiFi at 900 Mbps and more

How do we know? MoCA conducted real life WiFi home speed tests using an independent testing house, Dekra. These tests compared Kiwee WiFi Network Extenders with MoCA® against WiFi-only repeaters. Tests proved Kiwee’s WiFi Extenders with MoCA delivered 900 Mbps or better WiFi performance. Those other WiFi devices could only shell out about 300 Mbps or less of WiFi (on a good day).

Yes, MoCA is ready and able to leap into action; giving your home the WiFi boost it needs using WiFi Network Extenders from Kiwee. So, what are you waiting for? Why not provide your home a WiFi boosting rock-solid connection for online gaming, 4K streaming and WiFi coverage all over your home, basement, garage, multi-storied building and yard.

What does MoCA® have to do with WiFi?

MoCA® might just be the best kept secret for giving your home network the WiFI boost it needs. WiFi Wireless Network Extenders with MoCA® can to take your WiFi from “OK” to a 900 Mbps. WiFi boosting “Oh YES!”

Use Wires to Accelerate your WiFi

If you know about MoCA® (Multimedia over Coax Alliance and MoCA® technology), you probably consider it a home network technology that enables distribution of content like streaming movies or online gaming over existing TV coax cables. The primary job of MoCA technology is to guarantee delivery of internet and WiFi to your WiFi devices.

TV coax cables are big internet pipes; ideal for sending internet to every TV coax cable outlet in your house. ‘Great,’ you say, ‘but I use WiFi.’ No probs. Now when MoCA is added to a WiFi Wireless Network Extender, signal is obtained via your TV coax cables and localized to your WiFi devices for that WiFi boost you need.

Huh? Let me explain. Technically, here’s how that WiFi boost happens. The WiFi Wireless Network Extender with MoCA® talks to your WiFi router using TV coax cables.

Next the WiFi Wireless Network Extender with MoCA takes WiFi and internet signal from your existing WiFi router and broadcasts it out to every WiFi device within reach.

It’s as if all your WiFi devices are connected directly to your main WiFi router. So without overworking the WiFi router, the WiFi Wireless Network Extender increases WiFi speed and performance all over your home.

Think of the WiFi Wireless Network Extender with MoCA as your personal WiFi butler, serving up a WiFi boost of speed whenever a device wants it, regardless of its location.

In fact, MoCA® conducted tests to confirm that using a ‘wire’ (TV coax cable) actually boosted WiFi performance. Independent testing firm Dekra compared Kiwee’s WiFi Wireless Network Extenders with MoCA® against other WiFi only network extenders. Tests showed Kiwee’s WiFi Wireless Extenders with MoCA outperformed other WiFi extenders by a wicked 900 Mbps of WiFi boosting speed and performance. Trumpet sounds please. Other extenders provided a mere 300 Mbps or less. Cue the wah-wah music.

Wired makes the WiFi Boost Happen

Think of the distance from your WiFi router to all your wireless devices. If your WiFi router is on the ground floor office and your favorite 4K wireless device is in the basement, then WiFi signal has to travel a daunting distance from your office to the basement.

Now, installing one or more WiFi Wireless Network Extenders with MoCA lets you receive fast and high performing WiFi – to every corner of your home.

No longer a secret, find out how Kiwee’s WiFi Wireless Network Extenders with MoCA® provide the WiFi boosting performance you need.

What is the difference between MoCA 1.0, 1.1, 2.0, and Bonded 2.0?

You want to eliminate WiFi dead zones in your home where WiFi barely reaches and get faster WiFi speeds. The best way to improve WiFi is with a wired device. That wire is your existing TV coax cables. The device is a WiFi Network Extenders with MoCA® technology.

What is MoCA®?

It’s a brilliantly devised network technology for fast WiFi using existing TV coax cables instead of Ethernet. In fact, MoCA is THE network technology standard used by pay TV service providers in 90 percent homes across America and selected countries around the globe. With WiFi Network Extenders, you too can take advantage of MoCA and boost your WiFi.

MoCA began in 2004. Like every technology standard including 801.11a-n, there are different versions of MoCA. MoCA 1.0 was used exclusively by paid TV providers until 2007 when MoCA 1.1 was introduced. MoCA 1.1 is found in equipment used by paid TV providers and products you purchased online or in retail stores. In 2014, MoCA 2.0 became available. Currently MoCA 2.0 Bonded is the latest MoCA.

Will MoCA 1.0 work with MoCA 2.0 Bonded?

Don’t worry if your existing MoCA equipment is MoCA 1.0, 1.1, 2.0 or even 2.0 Bonded. Adding new WiFi Network Extenders with MoCA won’t shut down your existing network or turn off your pay TV service.

So what’s the diff? Speed my friend, it’s all about speed. MoCA 1.0 has a top speed of 100 Mbps. MoCA 1.1 reaches 175 Mbps. MoCA 2.0 tops out at 500 Mbps. And bonded MoCA 2.0 can hit speeds in excess of 1 Gbps! It’s no secret WiFi requirements have increased. WiFi Network Extenders with MoCA keep your WiFi boosted at 900 Mbps or better.

900 Mbps is exactly what you need to simultaneously stream 4K movies and UHD sports programs, play online games and keep all your other WiFi hungry devices fed and happy. Meanwhile your existing MoCA 1.1 equipment stays solid at up to 500 Mbps and any MoCA 1.0 equipment keeps plugging at 100 Mbps max.

MoCA is Backward Compatible

The beauty of MoCA lies in the fact that regardless of the version (MoCA 2.0 Bonded, 2.0, 1.1 or 1.0), all versions of MoCA are designed to recognize its version first and then step down to previous versions. Technically, this is defined as ‘backward compatible’.

For example, MoCA 2.0 Bonded devices that talk only with other MoCA 2.0 Bonded devices will work at MoCA 2.0 Bonded speeds. The same MoCA 2.0 Bonded device can talk with other MoCA 1.0 and MoCA 1.1 devices, at their corresponding speeds.

Go ahead and add MoCA 2.0 and MoCA 2.0 Bonded devices to your network without any issues. Now, WiFi Network Extenders with MoCA give you a super-fast and reliable WiFi boost to every corner of your home in complete harmony with other devices on your network.
