G.hn Wave 2 Coax Adapter – 2.5GbE and PoE+

G.hn Wave 2 · 2.5GbE · 30W PoE+

One coax outlet.
1.6 Gbps and 30W of power.

The KB-G3-03 turns the TV cable already in your walls into a multi-gigabit Ethernet link that also powers the device on the other end — a ceiling access point, an outdoor camera, a VoIP phone. No new cable. No new outlet. No electrician.

✓ 2-adapter starter kit  ·  ✓ 30-day returns  ·  ✓ 1-year warranty

Right for you if you have satellite TV, a DVB-T2 aerial, or unused coax in the walls. Not for cable-internet (DOCSIS) lines — the KB-M3-03 is the model for those.

Data and power, one cable

Everything the KB-G3-01 does — plus the power.

Our G.hn Wave 2 adapter already solved the hard part: real multi-gigabit networking over ordinary coax, in the 2–200 MHz band, without touching your satellite or antenna signal.

The KB-G3-03 adds the piece installers actually ask for. Its 2.5G Ethernet port is a full PoE+ (IEEE 802.3at) power source, pushing up to 30W down the same cable that carries the data. Mount the access point where coverage is worst, not where the sockets happen to be.

Why people choose the KB-G3-03

A G.hn adapter that carries power is a genuinely new category — and it removes the last excuse for a Wi-Fi dead zone.

🥇

Data and power in one box

A G.hn Wave 2 coax link and an IEEE 802.3at power source in a single unit, so the far end of the run needs nothing but an Ethernet cable.

⚡

Up to 30W on tap

IEEE 802.3at PoE+ at the port — comfortably enough for Wi-Fi 6E/7 access points, 4K PoE cameras, and VoIP handsets. Also supports 802.3af (15.4W) devices.

🚀

1.6 Gbps over coax

G.hn Wave 2 (G.9960/G.9961) delivers roughly 2.5× gigabit Ethernet and stays consistent through walls and floors where Wi-Fi collapses.

🛰️

Your TV signal, untouched

An integrated diplexer keeps data in the 2–200 MHz band and passes satellite TV and DVB-T2 straight through. No lost channels, no filters to fit.

🎯

Latency under 1 ms

Point-to-point latency that rivals a direct Ethernet run — and roughly a third of what a MoCA link introduces. Built for competitive gaming and live calls.

🔒

AES-128 secured

Hold the PAIR button for three seconds on each adapter and the whole network encrypts itself. Up to 16 nodes on one coax run.

The PoE+ advantage

Put the access point where the coverage is worst.

Every serious Wi-Fi upgrade runs into the same wall: the best mounting position — a hallway ceiling, a stairwell, an eave — is exactly where there is no power socket. Running one is a day’s work and a hole in the plaster.

Because the KB-G3-03 sources power itself, the far end needs nothing but the Ethernet cable you were already going to run. Plug the adapter into the nearest coax outlet, run a patch lead to the mount point, and the device comes up powered and connected.

✓ Works alongside

  • Satellite TV — including DISH and DIRECTV (950–2150 MHz)
  • DVB-T2 terrestrial / UHF antenna (470–690 MHz)
  • DVB-C cable TV starting at 258 MHz or above
  • Other G.hn Wave 2 coax devices
  • Practically any device with an Ethernet port
  • PoE and PoE+ powered devices

✗ Not compatible with

  • DOCSIS cable internet — it overlaps the 2–200 MHz data band
  • Cable TV VHF channels in the low band
  • MoCA adapters (different standard and frequency plan)

Running a cable modem? Choose the KB-M3-03 MoCA 2.5 + PoE+ instead — it operates in D-Band and coexists with DOCSIS.

Using a European satellite wall socket?

Leave your set-top box on the SAT port and run a new coax lead from the socket’s DATA or TV port to the adapter’s G.hn jack. The DATA port (5–862 MHz) gives the best result. Tighten every connector properly — loose F-connectors cost you both throughput and picture quality.

What’s in the box

The KB-G3-03 ships as a two-adapter starter kit. A single adapter cannot form a network on its own — you always need at least two.

Frequently asked questions

Which devices can the PoE+ port actually power?

Anything drawing up to 30W at the port under IEEE 802.3at — which covers the great majority of Wi-Fi 6/6E/7 access points (Ubiquiti U6 and U7, TP-Link EAP, Netgear WAX and similar), 4K PoE IP cameras, and VoIP handsets. Lower-power 802.3af devices at 15.4W are supported too. Devices requiring 802.3bt PoE++ are not; for those, look at the KB-M3-04.

Will this interfere with my satellite or antenna TV?

No. G.hn data occupies 2–200 MHz while the TV pass-through port carries 250–2150 MHz, so satellite TV and DVB-T2 sit entirely above the data band. An integrated diplexer keeps the two separated on the same cable — no lost channels and no external filter needed.

Can I use it on the same cable as my cable internet (DOCSIS)?

No. DOCSIS upstream starts at 5 MHz and overlaps the G.hn band directly. If you have cable internet, put the modem right at the point of entry and use the KB-G3-03 only on the inside-home wiring beyond it — or choose the KB-M3-03 MoCA 2.5 + PoE+, which runs in D-Band and coexists with DOCSIS by design.

Do I need two adapters?

Yes — a coax network needs a device at each end, which is why the KB-G3-03 ships as a two-adapter kit. You can add more later: up to 16 adapters can share a single coax network.

What speed will I actually get?

1.6 Gbps is the physical layer rate on a clean coax path, and iperf testing on our bench reaches it consistently. Real-world results depend on your cabling: keep total loss across the path under about 35 dB, use wideband splitters rated 5–1000 MHz, and avoid amplifiers that block the low band.

Can I mix it with the KB-G3-01?

Yes. Both are ITU-T G.hn Wave 2 devices on the same 2–200 MHz plan, so they pair and interoperate normally. A common setup is a KB-G3-01 next to the router and a KB-G3-03 at the far end where PoE is needed.

How do I secure the link?

Hold the PAIR button on the first adapter for three seconds until its LED blinks, then do the same on each additional adapter within two minutes. When every PAIR LED is solid green the network is encrypted with 128-bit AES. Holding PAIR for six seconds clears the security setting again without touching your IP configuration.

Does it work in an apartment with shared coax?

Usually, though it depends on the building. Modern blocks with isolated coax per unit work perfectly. Older buildings on a shared trunk may see reduced throughput, and you should enable AES pairing so neighbouring equipment cannot join your network.

Can I use it to bridge my ONT to my router?

Yes — that is a common deployment. When placing an adapter at the internet entry point ahead of the router, disable its DHCP client in the web interface and assign a static management address, so it does not compete for your ISP’s public IP.

Does it support IPTV?

Yes. Enable IGMP snooping in the multicast section of the web interface and multicast IPTV streams pass through correctly.

How is this different from a powerline adapter?

Coax is a shielded, purpose-built transmission line; mains wiring is neither. In practice that means roughly 1.6 Gbps versus 500–1000 Mbps, sub-millisecond latency instead of variable latency, and immunity to the motor noise and circuit-breaker boundaries that cripple powerline links.
